Ingredients:  Echinacea Root, Yellow Dock Root, Dandelion Root, Peony Root, Yerba Mansa Root, Alfalfa, Peppermint, Spearmint, Dandelion Leaf, Catnip, Red Clover Blossom, Wintergreen, Goldenseal, Yucca, Cayenne

When to use:  When you are focusing on building and purifying the blood, removing excess acidity and environmental pollutants (elevated levels of lead and cadmium); relieving palpitations, infections of the blood, tension in vessels, lubricating blood cells, and balancing high or low blood pressure. Or use in conjunction with Innocence & Vitality Blends in the Two Moons Tea Seasonal Cleanse trio.

How much to use:  Gradually increase tea consumption from 1 to 4 cups per day. For a seasonal cleanse, alternate 1 quart a day of Sun Blood, Innocence and Vitality Blends for 30 days with each season (see Cleansing Trio).  Allow 20 minutes between drinking tea and meals. Caution:  Not recommended for use if serious medical conditions exist.

PreparationSteep 1 tablespoon of herb per quart of hot water (distilled, spring or filtered water) for 20 minutes.  Strain herbs.  Sip (don't gulp) tea throughout the day.

Notes from Lee Nelson White Deer about this blend:

Originally blended by the Anasazi. Blood was always a big problem with infections. This blend has been used for a very long time.

There’s a drawing on the temple down there in Yucatan. It was first thought to be a temple but now it is understood to be a meeting place of the high priests, medicine men. It was like a medical college, and a hospital. This blend is written on the wall with dates when changes were made to the formula over the years. From the first change noted to the last change noted was about 7-800 years.

  • Echinacea is a blood cleanser and works on stimulating the blood flow through stimulation of arterial and venal walls, causing them to flex more. It is the dominant herb in the blend. If we can get the circulatory system to flex and move the blood through, we don't need so much of the heavy herbs to do the work.
  • Yellow Dock cleans up the blood itself. It achieves a balance between white and red corpuscles, cleans up extra lymph and discharges it into the lymphatic system.
  • Dandelion kicks the junk out. It picks up the high cholesterol, particularly oils. A lot tend to collect in our bodies because of the high content of fried foods we eat, and from eating oils that have become rancid.
  • Peony is a very heavy herb, a very strong herb. It knocks minerals out. It will break down deposits of minerals in the system, particularly lead and mercury. It is one of the few that handles mercury.
  • Yerba Mansa is the greatest of all the blood cleansers. It is three times as effective as Golden Seal, Echinacea, Dandelion and others. It sets up the blood flow and maintains a constant and steady flow of blood. It causes the blood to absorb oxygen at a much greater rate than it would normally. This is one of the reasons the tribes of runners could run so far. They started drinking Yerba Mansa when they were about six or seven years old. After about 10 years of this they built up a blood system and lung capacity that was outstanding.
  • Alfalfa is used, as it is every now and then in the blends, because it is the perfect time release buffer. Any time you add Alfalfa to a blend, the release time of strong herbs, which is usually about 30 to 60 minutes, will go as high as four hours. Alfalfa quickly absorbs the overcharge and releases it slowly into the system.
  • Mint, though it is soothing to the stomach, is basically used here as a taste buffer. Echinacea doesn't taste particularly good. Yellow Dock doesn't either. Peony tastes absolutely terrible. Yerba Mansa is even worse. And Golden Seal, well you know what that tastes like, and if you don't, take about a teaspoon full sometime and try it.
  • Catnip is used to sedate and stop pain. In using heavy cleansers as there are in the Sun Blood blend, to balance blood pressure and cleanse, there can actually be sharp or stabbing pains because of how fast the blend accomplishes these things.
  • Red Clover filters the blood, picks up the debris. It is the herbal vacuum cleaner. By itself it does not have that much of an effect as a blood cleanser. It doesn't have the ability to knock things loose, it just cleans up.
  • Wintergreen helps Peony penetrate into the walls of blood vessels. Peony is a heavy herb and does not assimilate very well.
  • Goldenseal has the ability to clean many things out of the blood in a very slow and easy manner. Heavy herbs take care of heavy cleansing needs. Goldenseal is good at cleaning up dead cells.
  • Yucca breaks down calcium buildup in arteries so other herbs get to it. It breaks up bulging deposits of blood that are not returning, starting to set up, and going to froth. It turns lead into a semisolid, releasing it into the bloodstream, to the lymph system and out. Yucca by itself would tear loose the heavies, such as lead, but it wouldn't help eliminating.
  • Capsicum (cayenne) is the stimulant.
