Sun Blend
A
Get-Up-and-Go blend derived from the Iroquois
Nation
Feel
Good and Be Healthy!
Ingredients: Chicory
Root, Carrot, Saw Palmetto Berry, Caraway
Seed, Dandelion Root, Ginger Root, Watercress,
Alfalfa, Dandelion Leaf, Cardamom Seed,
Cloves, Peppermint, Spearmint, Cayenne
When to use:
Anytime! Or
as a replacement for caffeine or morning
stimulants; for vitamin utilization; during
times of depression or low energy; when
you want to enliven your mood or energy;
when you want a stimulant and tonic for
the body, mind, or pituitary; when you
need to build up your appetite or stimulate
the nervous system; when you want to build
your energy back up after illness.
How much to use:
As desired, one cup to one quart per
day.
Preparation:
Steep 1 teaspoon of herb per cup of
hot water (distilled, spring, or filtered
water) or 1 tablespoon per quart for 20
minutes. Strain herbs and sip tea
(don't gulp). Allow at least 20
minutes between tea and meals.
One
teaspoon of herb
will make one cup of tea, but one tablespoon
(which is the equivalent of 3 teaspoons)
of herb will make 1 quart or 4 cups
of tea. So if you are making more than
one cup, make the quart and you'll get
more tea out of your bag of herbs!

Notes from Lee
Nelson White Deer about this blend:
This
is a stimulating
tea, strictly for stimulation.
It builds up appetite, gets
the body in gear. Gives the same
pick up as 3 cups of coffee but no let
down. It stimulates the nervous
system, rebuilds nerves.
- Chicory
is used as basis for stimulation. Also
for flavor. It has a lovely flavor,
no bitterness.
- Carrots give natural sugar
and all the qualities of carrots.
- Saw palmetto provides high
amounts of Vitamin E.
- Caraway is a very stimulating
spice. It works on all of the organs
of the body, the pancreas, the thymus,
liver, thyroid ...
- Dandelion is used as a blood
purifier, stimulant, and for flavor.
- Ginger helps the circulation.
- Watercress is here to stimulate
the appetite.
- Alfalfa is used here for the
food value.
- Cardamom works directly on
the central nervous system as a stimulant
to the brain and main spinal column.
- Cloves are used for same reason
- a direct stimulant to the central
nervous system.
- The mints are for flavor and
for soothing the stomach. Carawy can
be irriating.
- Cayenne is a good source of
Vitamin A, and it gets the blood circulating
faster.
